The deacons, or members of the “diaconate,” form an essential core organizational unit for Wieuca’s ministry. Chosen and affirmed by church members to serve rotating three-year terms, the 60-member diaconate reflects Wieuca’s congregation. The men and women of the diaconate take seriously their roles as servant leaders and agree to:

    • Learn about and serve the needs of Wieuca’s members and the community
    • Participate actively in church life
    • Attend worship services and opportunities for spiritual formation
    • Give generously of their financial resources

Deacons meet regularly to pray for Wieuca’s members and to guide and support Wieuca’s ministries. They take personal responsibility for staying in touch with a group of Wieucans. In addition, through deacon ministry teams, they plan and participate in a variety of events and ministries such as helping to staff a Habitat for Humanity project, organizing a churchwide volleyball and chili cook-off fellowship, visiting with and ministering to homebound members, and providing volunteer support for aspects of Wieuca’s worship services.
