Do you have a desire for God? Perhaps you are, as some call, a “seeker.” You’re interested, for any number of reasons, in exploring getting to know God better or maybe just simply feel that you could use a little transcendence in your life. Perhaps you have tried to journey toward God but something happened and you got burned. Maybe you've been in church all your life and yet you don't feel close to God. Maybe you feel stuck spiritually. How can you start or start again?
The spiritual life is a journey--lots of starts, stops, detours, unexpected turns, and dead-ends. Yet, journeys can be the most rewarding experiences of our lives; in fact, many negative experiences end up being moments of grace and growth. Most of us who are saying to ourselves, "I really want to be intentional about my spiritual life and I really want to connect with God, but..." are in a really special place—a place of opportunity.
Most of us suddenly awake to find ourselves lost in the wilderness, ill-prepared, and confused with all the different trails and pathways. It's helpful to assess where you are, regroup, find some supplies, find some trekking partners, and then venture out again. At Wieuca, we hope to be a community that can help you find your bearings and get equipped for your journey toward connecting with God.
First steps?
--Find some trekking partners. Serve on a Habitat build, go on a mission trip with us, attend a short-term class or simply just come hang out with us. You’ll meet people who are at different places on their journey and that will help paint a context for you. Also, you should consider a core class or one of the suggested books. For up-to-date opportunities happening at Wieuca, visit our home page.
--Get in touch with your journey, because "you can only start from where you're at." Write your “spiritual autobiography.” You’ll be surprised what you can learn from taking the time to reflect on where you have traveled thus far.
