Our Mission
“Becoming a community with a heart for God and a heart for others from the heart of Buckhead.”
Our Vision
The points of the cross create our compass for Christian living. They are encompassed by prayer and underpinned by our traditional Baptist beliefs. We strive for excellence as God deserves excellence and sacrifice in all we do for Him.
Worship (leitourgia) (2 Corinthians 9:12) – Worship is what makes the heart of our community beat. It is our conviction that we as human beings are created to glorify God and revel in His love and presence. By providing a place where people can genuinely interact with God in dynamic corporate worship, all will have the opportunity to experience transformational life change.
Spiritual Formation (didache) (Acts 2:42, Acts 11:26, Romans 8:29) – We are all on a journey with God and with one another. Growth during that journey is our response to God’s grace over time. We believe biblical teaching provides the catalyst for transformational life change and growth. We also believe that the practices of worship and prayer, hospitality and fellowship, sharing and serving, personal devotions and group study, allow God’s Spirit to reshape us in the mold of Christ. These practices in turn help us to live out the full implications of the Great Commandment (Mark 12:30-31) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
Ministry / Caregiving (diakonia) (1 Peter 4:10, John 13:35) – We strive to use time, talent and treasure to build up the body of Christ and to provide caring service to the family of faith, sharing a living experience of God’s love through service. We believe that God has gifted each person with gifts that enrich and equip the body of Christ. By helping each other discover and develop our gifts, we find fulfillment and purpose in our faith. We believe that the Christian life is meant to be lived in close relationship with other believers. We seek to deepen our community by caring for each other through small groups, Sunday School classes and other opportunities for service and caring.
Fellowship (koinonia) (Acts 2:42-47) – We believe that by sharing the joy we feel as followers of Christ with others, we are able to forge meaningful relationships and connect with people for the greater good. By valuing and celebrating our relationships with each other we are able to share a living experience of belonging to the family of God.
Evangelism and Mission (apostello and euaggelion) (Romans 1:1, Matthew 28:19-20a) – We believe that the Church is called to participate in the mission of God in the world. As God continues to make God’s self manifest in our midst, the Church is elected to proclaim that this is good news for our world, starting with our friends, coworkers, and neighbors. We want to utilize our unique location and facilities to create intentional spaces where those in our community may encounter God. This inward movement as a gathered community facilitates our outward movement into the world, wherein we employ our missional capacities with intentionality. Through our word and witness we are testifying that God is at work amongst us, reconciling all of creation unto God’s self. In all that we do, we are striving to bless people in our community and beyond with a living experience of Jesus, remembering especially those neglected and/or oppressed by society, following Christ’s own example.
Prayer (proseuche) (Acts 2:42, Philippians 1:3-6, 9-11, 1 Thessalonians 5:17) – We believe that in prayer we enjoy the relationship with God that Christ has won for us. Prayer encompasses all that we undertake in God's service as God's servants. We use prayer to thank, worship and deepen our connection with God. We seek to be a praying community that supports our members, our community, our country and the world. We believe prayer is central to every aspect of our life in our community of faith.
Baptist Heritage
We treasure our rich heritage and history as Baptists. We value Wieuca’s history in the larger Baptist community of faith. Our ministries and policies seek to honor our heritage.
