God's Principles For Being A Good Steward

What is Stewardship?

To be a "steward" simply means to be a manager.  So, how can we be effective managers of the Time, Talents, and Financial resources God entrusts to us?

When people think of stewardship they most often think of money so let’s tackle that one first.  The Bible speaks of a tithe, or literally, a tenth.  So why does God ask us to give 10% to Him?  He already has all the money He needs.  He certainly does not need our money!  The reason is actually for our benefit not His.  It is to teach us to keep God first in our lives and how to be unselfish people.   In the process, we often find that we become better husbands, wives, friends, employers, and employees.

Notice, however, that, while money is an important part of stewardship, it is only one component.  At Wieuca, our stewardship efforts focus on helping people become better managers of our Time, Talents, and Finances.

Our Time
In today’s busy society our time is perhaps our most precious asset and gift that we can give.  Our stewardship team works closely with church leadership and ministry teams to communicate opportunities to get involved and helps link individuals with ministry opportunities that match their interests and passions.  Whether you’re interested in serving your immediate community or helping others abroad, we can help you get plugged in!

Our Talents
Part of deciding where to invest your time involves understanding your unique talents, gifts, and passions.  God made each of us unique and special and He is counting on us to use our talents in service of others.  Through spiritual gifts surveys and other mechanisms we help individuals identify and develop their unique talents in service.

Our Finances
The average American spends 80% of their waking hours thinking about, managing, or worrying about money matters.  With the continued volatility and uncertainty of the economy and the stock market, this trend is not likely to change.  Not surprisingly, God’s Word has A LOT to say about our money and possessions.  In fact there are over 2,300 verses in Scripture that contain references to money and possessions, more verses than are devoted to any other topic!

To help people deal with this important aspect of stewardship, we routinely provide seminars and services that provide individuals of all ages with practical, bible-centered strategies to make your money Grow, Last, and Make a Difference !
